Dragon Training: Working the Idea (Not Just Collecting It)

Core Experience (felt shift)

Moving from recognizing an idea to actively engaging with it—shifting from passive exposure to chosen interaction.

Why This Practice Exists

It has never been easier to understand ideas quickly, especially with AI. But clarity alone doesn’t create change. This practice creates a small pause between “getting it” and moving on, so you can do a few reps—enough to explain the idea in your own words and consciously decide whether and how you want it to shape your thinking.

How to Begin

When you feel yourself adding another shiny idea to the hoard…or when you catch yourself thinking, “that makes sense” and immediately reaching for the next thing.

Practice Prompt

Pause with one idea.

Ask:

  • Can I explain this in my own words without looking at the source?

  • What is one small way I could test or apply this today?

Then choose:

  • Work the idea (do one small rep), or

  • Leave it on the shelf (consciously, not by default)

Gentle Close

You don’t have to work every idea. But the ones you do work… are the ones that tend to stay.

A Note on Continuing

If these ideas resonate, you may be noticing that seeing something clearly doesn’t always mean it’s easy to live it consistently.
